Endings and Beginnings

January 02, 2014 0 Comments
So it seems, sometimes, the world around you keeps on going – moving, living, unaffected – yet your world feels as though it stops all together; I don’t know how else to describe it. In November we found out that we were expecting again, only to have a miscarriage last month.  Quite honestly, I haven't felt much like talking - let alone blogging, and yes, it has felt almost as if our lives have paused while we see the rest of the world carrying on. So, once again we are slowly trying to pick up the pieces and trying to move on. We are thankful for a new year. It helps to feel like we have a fresh start, and a ‘new beginning.’

Thanks for the prayers.

Christmas (a little early)

December 15, 2012 0 Comments
This year our persepective has changed a little bit about having to "wait" until Christmas Day.  And since Sera's present arrived a little early and Daddy had a little time to assemble it while Sera was napping, she had a nice suprise when she woke up...her very own kitchen!

Playing Outside

September 29, 2012 0 Comments
Our Saturday plans were a bit skewed because of some rain, but we made the best of it. It was warm enough this morning and the rain turned to a drizzle – a perfect time to play in some puddles! We had a blast.

By the way, did you know that September 24th through September 30th (annually) is “Take a Child Outside Week”? Unfortunately, I was a little late learning about this ‘annual event,’ but wanted to share with you the organization’s website (http://www.takeachildoutside.org/). I was excited to get some new ideas on activities that are both fun and educational and targeted towards different age groups. They share some great resources.

Playing in the Dirt

September 10, 2012 2 Comments

Anyone who has ever taken care of a small child will know that most projects take a little extra time, effort, and planning. But it is so worth it, when you see that child growing and learning and excited. We have been working in the yard, planning and preparing [mostly for next season]. However, we have set a small section aside to experiment with this fall (for now just some spinach and lettuce). So while John and I worked to get the ground prepared and the seeds sown, our daughter was given the opportunity to explore, play in the dirt, and even helped out a little (she was given the task of “throwing rocks out of the garden”).

Singing Psalms

August 31, 2012 0 Comments

When I was a kid, my mother used to wake me up in the mornings, singing this Psalm to me – every morning. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this was becoming instilled in me. So much so that when I moved out, when I would wake up on my own, I could still hear ‘her singing’ in my thought processes each and every morning – but it was a good thing to be thinking of every morning [Thank you Mama!]. There is something about knowing that, whatever the day may bring, the Lord is in control because He made ‘THIS DAY.’

I couldn’t help but reminisce this morning about my mornings waking up back at home with my mother, as this morning I was singing this same Psalm to my 1½-year-old little girl as she was awaking from her slumber. I pray that these moments will also be a blessing to her life and that they will create good memories for her and, who knows, maybe the tradition will continue and one day her child(ren) will be waking up to her songs too.
