Photographing Four Generations

January 31, 2018 0 Comments

It is not often that all of my [Dad's side of the] family is able to get together. We all live in different states, scattered throughout the country. It has been a long time since we have all seen each other, and it was the first time all the great-grandchildren were together. We tried to use this rare opportunity to capture a family photograph of the four generations.
How complicated could it be? 😎

Peaceful Retreat

October 14, 2012 0 Comments
“Peaceful Retreat”
(written by Sherrie Bradley Neal)
Down a narrow hidden path.
Sought out by Wisdom’s eye.
A peaceful place of refuge calls.
To come rest awhile beside.

Listen to the waters.
Falling over mountains steep.
To gently flow for endless days.
Through eternity’s retreat.

And on the far horizon.
Of the never setting sun.
The harvest of the whitened wheat.
Is very nearly done.

As work on earth comes to a close.
Peace will be complete.
Surrounded by the beauty.
Of eternity’s retreat.

Lee Buff (aka Dad), 1959-2012

This week has been such a whirlwind. Unreal. A shock. Sadly, and very unexpectedly, my husband’s dad passed from this life on Tuesday, October 9th. Our world will never be the same.  We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.

Labor Day Weekend

September 03, 2012 0 Comments
We hope that everyone had a wonderful Labor-Day weekend! We celebrated my husband’s birthday over the weekend, and we also went out of town Sunday to my [paternal grandmother’s] annual family reunion.

Following are some highlights from our trip...
My great-uncle's home, where we had the reunion.

The muscadine vineyard.

My Dad and Daughter hunting/picking muscadines.

Some of the delicious muscadines.

Hibiscus.

The little pear tree.

Foxglove.

We also experienced some pretty bad storms Sunday afternoon throughout the ride home, and unfortunately when we arrived back home we found that our pecan tree had lost a rather large limb.  :(

Singing Psalms

August 31, 2012 0 Comments

When I was a kid, my mother used to wake me up in the mornings, singing this Psalm to me – every morning. I didn’t realize it at the time, but this was becoming instilled in me. So much so that when I moved out, when I would wake up on my own, I could still hear ‘her singing’ in my thought processes each and every morning – but it was a good thing to be thinking of every morning [Thank you Mama!]. There is something about knowing that, whatever the day may bring, the Lord is in control because He made ‘THIS DAY.’

I couldn’t help but reminisce this morning about my mornings waking up back at home with my mother, as this morning I was singing this same Psalm to my 1½-year-old little girl as she was awaking from her slumber. I pray that these moments will also be a blessing to her life and that they will create good memories for her and, who knows, maybe the tradition will continue and one day her child(ren) will be waking up to her songs too.
